As a small community arts organization, Durham Community Choir relies primarily on participant fees and concert ticket sales to fund its operations. The realities of this time of coronavirus—no in-person singing, no in-person concerts, reduced participation in virtual rehearsals—have put a severe strain on the choir's finances. While we have done our best to reduce expenses, our revenue has also been greatly reduced, and we find ourselves in a very challenging position.
We believe we make a valuable contribution to the Durham Region community—through music education, performance and community-building. In fact, Durham Community Choir was the recipient of a 2020 Metroland Readers' Choice award for Musical Instruction.
We solicit your support—to help us continue to offer our programming during this time of coronavirus, and also to sustain us so that we will be able to survive the pandemic, and be able to ramp up quickly with in-person rehearsals and performances when those are safe possibilities.
We heartily welcome and greatly appreciate any amount of support you may be able to share with us. You may make contributions electronically by either e-transfer, by PayPal or through a credit card.
Be assured that 100% of your contribution (except, for contributions processed by PayPal [including credit card payments], a 2.9% processing fee) will go directly to supporting and sustaining the work of the choir. We are deeply grateful for your support, but are not able to provide a tax-deductible receipt, as the choir is not a registered charity.
